ACE mentor - MCSM team at Columbia (team 24 with Lend Lease) First Meeting Nov 7, 2013

Hello!

I’d like to welcome everyone to the 2013 Ace Mentoring Program.  We are excited to have so many students aboard this year and we are looking forward to working with all of you.

We have set up a kick off meeting for Thursday November 7, 2013 at 4:00pm here at our campus.

At the meeting we’ll have a chance to go through the goals of the ACE Mentoring Program, introduce ourselves and the mentor groups, meet all of you,  and time given we’ll talk a little about the project and the syllabus.

ACE 2 (Arichitect. Construction. Engineering)

Since TD classes are not offered this year at MCSM. we have the TD club instead. We named it ACE 2 because, members are encourage to sign up for the official mentoring club outside MCSM at http://www.acementor.org

ACE members may use the club as a place where they learn some TD skills at ACE 2 to help them succeed at the ACE program.

Club meeting #1: Basic use of the t-square, 30-60-90 triangle, cornering and squaring the paper. we started with the border (1/4")and title bar (3/8") and the basic block with the demension of 3" x 2" x 4" (L x W x H).
Club Meeting #2: "cut out" portion of the block constructed last week with One " remaining on each side. added more lines to indicate different views.
Club meeting #3: adding shadows to the block.

Drawing 2: Elevation of a building Scale 1/4 = 1'0"
method of finding center point ( diagonal of any shape) and scale and proportion.
measurement of an actual building given and students will draw them out in 1/4 scale.
